Reflection – Spring Alumni Weekend

Brothers,

While the memory is still fresh, I wanted to make a few comments on the 2018 APAC Spring Alumni Weekend which was held this past weekend, especially for those of you who could not make it:

  1. It was absolutely impressive to be amongst the 59 associate members of Alpha Rho Chapter. At the Associate Member/Alumni exchange dinner on Friday night Alpha Rho alumni were placed at tables interspersed with the associate members. We met the Archon of the Associate Chapter, Kienan Battin , who I can see why this young man was chosen to lead the Associate Chapter. He gives me great hope for the future
  2. We were privileged to meet with & spend time with Conner Burke & Parker Begale, who came from the Pi Kappa Phi national office in Charlotte in mid-January of this year. In a very short amount of time were able to selectively recruit a great group of men to become Associate Members of Alpha Rho Chapter. WOW!! I think that these two should tackle world hunger next!!
  3. Beyond acknowledging the time & tireless efforts on Tom BegleyAP 284, who we all know is the ‘rock” of the Alpha Rho Alumni Chapter, feel that three other brothers need to be pointed out for their respective/collective efforts which may go unheralded at times : a) Mike Turner – who for years & years has faithfully & steadfastly watched over the concerns & needs of the Pi Kapp house/property in Morgantown, b) Patrick Folio – Again has for years & years has selflessly given of his time & efforts to “behind the scenes” planning for most of the social events held in Morgantown, & c) Jason Hyett – The “The IT wizard/webmaster” of the Alpha Rho Alumni Chapter. Jason makes sure that APAC information is constantly updated.
  4. It’s not too much to speak of Mike Turner again for he & his lovely wife, Theresa, opened their house again to APAC this past Saturday night for a fantastic evening of food, drink, & song. APAC was entertained by the country/bluegrass band, The DBI Band!
  5. Overall, it was a great weekend to reconnect with Alpha Rho brothers of your respective era and also get to know the other Alpha Rho brothers a little better!
  6. Finally, I feel compelled to make a plug for the observation of 40th Re-chartering of Alpha Rho Chapter at WVU plus the initiation of the current group associate members which will ne held over the weekend of April 12, 13, & 14, 2019 in Morgantown. Also, we need help trying to track down some of our Alpha Rho brothers that have gone MIA. So please mark your calendars!!  This will be a once in a lifetime event. We don’t want to look back & say “coulda, woulda, shoulda“!!

Be well.
