Alpha Rho has a rich tradition of Chapter Advisors since rechartering in 1978. Dr’s John Brisbane and Nick Evans along with Eric Dyson provided us terrific leadership and guidance throughout most of the past 40 years. We were lucky to have these men serve in such an important role.
When we lost our Charter in 2015, the Alumni Chapter’s plan for reorganization included an emphasis on finding another strong Chapter Advisor and building a Council of Advisors around this person to support the Student Chapter. Our goal is to provide mature adult guidance to our Student Members so that they can operate at their best. We spent a great deal of time and effort looking for the right person to fill this role. And I’m confident we’ve found her!
It is my pleasure to announce that we have selected Sabrina Cave as our next Chapter Advisor to lead Alpha Rho’s Council of Advisors. Her experience and personality makes for the ideal advisor.
Sabrina currently serves as the Assistant Vice President for Parent Programs at West Virginia University. She is responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive plan of engagement and communication for WVU families through the Mountaineer Parents Club, which maintains an active membership for over 20,000 families. This organization connects families to the WVU student experience.
She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at West Virginia University. Sabrina started her career at Potomac State College as an admissions counselor. She then returned to her alma mater and served as the assistant director of the WVU Alumni Association, assistant vice president for Student Life Communications, before the role she currently holds.
Sabrina is the current co-advisor for the Mountaineer Maniacs and serves as the Public Relations chair for the local University Alumni Chapter. She has also previously served on the Main Street Morgantown Board of Directors.
In addition, she is actively involved in the national association for professionals who work with parents and families of college students. In the Association of Higher Education Parent Program Professionals, she has served as the Conference Committee Hospitality co-chair and as a mentor to other professionals in the field.
Some awards and honors bestowed on her include the Richard T. Feller award presented to an individual that mentors and guides student government association leaders, Mountaineer Leadership Academy first cohort graduate, The Dominion Post 100 Most Influential People list, the Margaret Buchanan Cole Young Alumni Award, Leadership WV graduate, a member of Mountain Honorary, WVU’s ranking honorary, and was named the Main Street Morgantown Board Member of the Year and received honors from the Governor.
Most recently the West Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators awarded the Mountaineer Parents Club with the 2017 Innovative Program Award for the success and creativity of the “I Survived Move-in” parent receptions for WVU families.
Sabrina is active in campus and community life as a Morgantown resident. She and her husband Gregg have two sons, Carter, age fourteen and Cooper age, eleven.
Please join me in welcoming Sabrina to Alpha Rho.
